Laura has over 15 years of experience serving folks with disabilities in various settings.

She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Recreational Therapy from the University of North Carolina Wilmington and minored in Psychology.

She is passionate about serving veterans, people with neurological disorders (brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, etc.), mental health (anxiety, depression, etc), caregivers, and female-identifying folks in their parenthood era.

Laura is a mother of two girls, a wife, and a dog mom. In her own leisure time, you can find Laura baking up a storm, exploring different creative arts, and cheering on the New York Football Giants and the Carolina Hurricanes.

I have been a licensed recreational therapist and certified therapeutic recreation specialist for 4 years. I graduated from East Carolina University in 2022 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Recreational Therapy.

Following graduation, I worked at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta, Georgia from 2022–2024 on the Acquired Brain Injury Unit, where I supported individuals through rehabilitation using evidence-based, patient-centered therapeutic recreation interventions. In 2024, I returned to North Carolina and served as an Aftercare Program Coordinator at the UNC Burn Center.

In April 2025, I began working with Recreate Yourself LLC and work with IDD, TBI, and veteran populations. I also hold a Master of Arts degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with concentrations in Public and Community Health and Exercise Science, allowing me to integrate health promotion, movement, and therapeutic recreation to support individuals across the continuum of care.
