As a senior pursuing a degree in Therapeutic Recreation at Winston-Salem State University, I am eager to apply my academic knowledge in a real-world setting and deepen my understanding of Recreational Therapy. Laura has over 15 years of experience serving folks with disabilities in various settings.

She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Recreational Therapy from the University of North Carolina Wilmington and minored in Psychology.

She is passionate about serving veterans, people with neurological disorders (brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, etc.), mental health (anxiety, depression, etc), caregivers, and female-identifying folks in their parenthood era.

Laura is a mother of two girls, a wife, and a dog mom. In her own leisure time, you can find Laura baking up a storm, exploring different creative arts, and cheering on the New York Football Giants and the Carolina Hurricanes.

Leslie discovered her interest in Recreation Therapy while working in summer camps for kids with disabilities. She earned her Bachelors degree in Recreation Therapy and Spanish from UNCW in 2024. While at UNCW, she also trained service dogs in hopes to one day utilize them during therapy sessions. Anna Shaye has been a Licensed Recreational Therapist and Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist for 4 years. She graduated from East Carolina University in 2022 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Recreational Therapy.

Following graduation, she worked at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta, Georgia from 2022–2024 on the Acquired Brain Injury Unit, where she supported individuals through rehabilitation using evidence-based, patient-centered therapeutic recreation interventions. In 2024, she returned to North Carolina and served as an Aftercare Program Coordinator at the UNC Burn Center.

In April 2025, she began working with Recreate Yourself, LLC and works with IDD, autism, acquired brain injury, TBI, and veteran populations. She also holds a Master of Arts degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with concentrations in Public and Community Health and Exercise Science, allowing her to integrate health promotion, movement, and therapeutic recreation to support individuals across the continuum of care.
